Major Actress Reveals She’s Left The U.S
Eva Longoria Chooses Life Abroad, Balancing Work and Personal Values
Eva Longoria, best known for her role on *Desperate Housewives*, has shared her decision to spend much of her time living outside the United States. In an interview with *Marie Claire*, Longoria revealed that she divides her time between Spain and Mexico when not working in Hollywood. While the move isn’t entirely new, her motivations for prioritizing life away from the U.S. have evolved over time.
Longoria expressed concerns about the current state of the country, calling it “a scary place.” She noted significant shifts over the years, particularly after Donald Trump’s presidency, which influenced her outlook. “If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place,” she said, referencing the political climate as a factor in her decision to reconsider her future.
A committed activist, Longoria spent much of the 2020 election cycle campaigning for now-Vice President Kamala Harris and collaborating with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to encourage voter participation, especially among women and Latino communities. Despite being physically distant from the U.S., Longoria said, “I would like to think our fight continues.”
Closing a Chapter in California
Leaving the U.S. was not an easy choice for Longoria. “I had my whole adult life here,” she shared. Even before the pandemic, she had noticed significant changes. “The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge. Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to criticize California—it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now.”
Longoria acknowledged her privilege in being able to move abroad, expressing sympathy for those who do not have the same options. “I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.”
Her future in the U.S. remains uncertain, but she currently seems content with her lifestyle abroad. Balancing time away from home with her Hollywood career has worked well for her.
A Growing Trend Among Celebrities
Longoria is not the only celebrity stepping away from U.S. life. Angelina Jolie announced plans to leave Hollywood in 2023, and Candace Cameron Bure relocated her family out of California for safety reasons. John Travolta has also reportedly considered moving abroad. Many stars are choosing a quieter, more balanced life outside the pressures of Tinseltown, driven by a desire for privacy, family focus, and new business opportunities.
Eva Longoria: Juggling Life Abroad and a Thriving Career
Despite her relocation, Longoria’s career continues to flourish. She recently appeared in *Only Murders in the Building* Season 4, playing a version of herself. With 12 projects in the works, including the upcoming 2025 film *Christmas Karma* and a new adaptation of *War of the Worlds*, Longoria shows no sign of slowing down.
For now, she successfully balances her career with her life abroad, demonstrating that it’s possible to align personal values with professional ambitions, even in a changing world.
